HEAVEN IN A POT! |
SON #2: MMM-MMM Good! I love all these Whoppers!
Emmie-Lou-Who: Wow, this is really silky!
Well, the photo looked so much yummier on my camera, but here on my computer I see that this pic does not do justice to this morning's Malted Milk Chocolate Pot of Creme. Sorry. But, I promise, this is one of the best, best, best, things I've made over the past few months, including all my holiday baking, and believe me that list includes lots of great goodies!
And, to think that initially I was disappointed we are using bleah milk chocolate...only dark chocolate lovers understand this point of view. However....THIS milk chocolate dessert is totally delish and I will make this one over and over and over, I'm absolutely sure! I wouldn't dream of changing one ingredient even if it was a change for my favorite dark chocolate. No going 1/2 and 1/2...no change.
These pots of cream are truly creamy, smooth, silky, and you'll want to eat all 8, not just one...all 2 1/4 cups of heavy cream; not a healthy start for most New Year's Resolutions lists. I'll also add that even with all the cream and other rich ingredients, these pots of creme are not heavy and they do not have that creamy-buttery residue that can coat the roof of your mouth. They are elegant desserts that could become my perfect Valentine love offering.
This one's a winner! I'm interested to see if any of you used a darker chocolate, or it you subbed out some of the cream for milk? Hope you all have a terrific week!
These were delicious. I subbed in some half and half and used milk chocolate and they were fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThey were good!! But I do think dark chocolate would be interesting to try. And I think also trying to use half and half instead of the cream next time. I think that would work. This recipe is definitely a keeper and one I'd like to experiment with.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a perfect valentine offering! Maybe with a little whipped cream and heart sprinkles!!
I highly recommend dark chocolate (even though I didn't try the milk chocolate). Now I'm thinking about making it with butterscotch chips for a butterscotch malt flavor... Endless possibilities! ;)
ReplyDeleteThis dessert has definitely challenged my longstanding view that dark chocolate is better than milk chocolate in all applications... I could not believe how delicious and light these were, I will definitely also be making them again, without changing a thing!
ReplyDeleteTo me, sometimes milk chocolate is just what the doctor ordered. I loved it in this recipe. I am a big fan of dark chocolate also and can see where it would be good...but if I were to make this again....I wouldn't change a thing!
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy that you enjoyed this dessert! So funny that we got very opposite reactions from tasters! I got weird faces and grimaces and you got compliments! Lucky you :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad that your family loved these!
ReplyDeleteI love milk chocolate, so I knew I wasn't going to do any subbing here. Glad you liked them!
ReplyDeleteSalt and pepper, milk and dark. I'd definitely go for dark next time - but most enjoy milk I have found. These look wonderful - so glad you enjoyed them (and all your taste testers)!
ReplyDeleteI agree..on of my favorite things this holiday season. I am not a fan of milk chocolate but my husband is so I stuck to the recipe. They were amazing!
ReplyDeleteI had the same concern-- would they be chocolaty enough with only milk chocolate?? But I too am soooo glad I went with all milk, as it was the perfect flavor! Mmmmm... :) I wouldn't dream of subbing anything for the cream personally; I feel like if you're making these, you might as well go all out. Yes, they are ideal for Valentine's Day for sure. Glad you had such great results and taster reviews!
ReplyDeleteWow, Kris! I will definitely have to make this one up!
